Costumes by Julie
The stunning French Fashion doll on the left was so challenging and fun to costume.  What you don't see are her vintage fabric drawers, boned corset, chemise and bustle!  Her skirt is of silk and features bustled drapery.  Her jacket and bodice are festooned with lots of vintage lace and her bonnet is a confection of lace and vintage flowers.

Here is a selection of costumes I have created.  They represent a diverse group of my favorite dolls.

Many people ask if I have ready-to-wear costumes.  The answer is No.  I only do custom work because fit is so critical to the total look of your doll!

A costume consists of undergarments made with appropriate vintage fabrics, outer garment, bonnet or hat if desired and socks.  Handmade shoes are optional.  If you are interested in a costume for your doll, please inquire about shipping, insurance and prices.  An Email with a photo of the doll in question is also helpful in this process.
For this lovely, highly colored China (below) I used a 1912 white vintage graduation dress with original crushed velvet sash.  The bonnet is very old, trimmed with velvet flowers.
Below, this lovely reproduction French doll's costume was created from cherry red Dupioni Silk with lots of antique lace trim and pinked ruffles.  Her shoes are handmade of brown kid.  Vintage fabric drawers and slips.  Tie-on fancy bonnet.  This complete costume was $300.00.  Doll not included.  Prices of similar costumes may vary depending on fabrics used and size of the doll.
One of my favorites (below) is this Heubach character boy.  He is dressed in white knit leggings and hat made out of old socks.  A flannel jacket and scarf complete the costume.
